Blockchain-Ready Opera Touch Browser Now on iOS

Opera has officially launched its multi-awarded Opera Touch browser on iOS, enabling users to access Web 3 apps and a dedicated crypto wallet.

Apple users can now seamlessly use decentralized applications (dApps) without using browser extensions, as Opera officially launched its blockchain and cryptocurrency-ready browser for iOS devices.

Initially released for PC and Android, the Opera Touch browser allows interaction with Web 3 apps and a built-in crypto wallet. It removes the need for browser add-ons for users to access dApps on the Ethereum blockchain.

Charles Hamel, Head of Crypto at Opera, said in his post:

“We believe that the Web of today will be the interface to the decentralized web of tomorrow (Web 3). With built-in Crypto Wallet, the browser has the potential to renew and extend its important role as a tool to access information, make transactions online and manage users’ online identities in a way that gives them more control.”

The Norwegian browser developer emphasizes that the iOS browser supports all ERC-20 tokens, stablecoins, and non-fungible tokens (NFT).

In terms of design, Opera Touch for iOS features a dark theme and a light theme. The user-interface also adjusts to the screen size, wherein browsers on larger-sized iPhones will have the navigation placed to the bottom of the screen.

Other features include My Flow — a function that allows users to share websites and notes with themselves across multiple devices — as well as private mode and cookie dialog blocker.

Meanwhile, Open Touch browser users can look forward to using TRON-powered dApps and storing TRON (TRX) and TRC-standard tokens, according to a May 15 press release.

Justin Sun, CEO of TRON, said:

“We are excited that Opera, a mainstream browser with hundreds of millions of users, will now seamlessly support TRX and other TRON tokens. Soon, Opera users will be able to use dApps on the TRON blockchain.”

The addition of the TRON blockchain will open the Opera Touch browser to almost 300 TRON dApps with 2.45 million accounts.

Opera Touch browser is now available for download from the Apple App Store.
