Ubisoft Joins with the EOS-based gaming startup Ultra

Ubisoft unites forces with the gaming startup Ultra to introduce Blockchain to the mainstream gaming world in a heartbeat.

The French gaming company Ubisoft famous for creating legendary games like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry partners with the EOS- based PC game publishing startup Ultra. According to Cointelegraph, Ubisoft is set to be the corporate block producer on the testnet of Ultra’s EOS sidechain, dubbed UOS. The company will maintain the network and approve transactions during the trial period.

The Ubisoft Blockchain Initiative director Nicolas Pouard comments:

“Our team at the Strategic Innovation Lab strongly believes that all blockchain use cases that bring value to players are important to support, and Ultra offers a solution that does just that. During this first trial period of collaboration, we hope to help them in bringing it to a larger scale and experiment with the possibilities this opens up for the industry.”

Transactions will include in-game asset creation, payments and ownership transfers between players. According to the release, Ubisoft is chosen by Ultra because of the much-needed growth of the platform and technical help.

The co-CEO and founder of Ultra Nicolas Gilot states that Ubisoft’s “years long dedication to exploring blockchain technology ensures they have the knowledge and skills to be excellent block producers.”

He also adds:

“Ubisoft’s rich portfolio of world-renowned brands, including Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance and Far Cry, is a testament to their dedication to creating quality content for all. Their years-long dedication to exploring blockchain technology ensures they have the knowledge and skills to be excellent block producers.”

Ultra is built with the intention to become a similar platform to Steam with easy game porting from platforms like Playstation and simple game development.

Ubisoft is quite familiar with Blockchain gaming. As of last year, the French gaming giant became a part of the Blockchain Game Alliance for companies that strive to bring Blockchain to the gaming industry. Ultra is also part of the alliance which adds two and two of how the companies started formed their partnership.
